Some days I am energetic and fully motivated to work on my goals, while other times, I struggle to find that motivation and am inclined to give in and go with the flow, go it the easy way. It is tempting to give up on your dreams or on yourself when you are in this state, when the path gets rough or seems a little unclear. You’ll not see it coming, but it starts with some slackening, a reduced effort, slumping back on a bad habit you’d started changing, entertaining old habits that are comfortable, and done effortlessly, and you don’t initially realize it creeping on you, but before you know it, you’ve lost your momentum and the gains you’ve made.

Depending on what you’re trying to change and how long you’ve been conditioned, when faced with resistance or difficulty, there’s a tendency to automatically go the route of least resistance. Today I was in one of those spaces, my drive and motivation was a little on the low and my brain was telling me “it’s never that serious” “just do what you naturally do, the problem will sort itself out”, “it’s just for today, there’s no harm in that..” But my now being reconditioned mind is asking me, “really? Do you want to go back to that? Where did it get you?”
At times, to get back the energy and motivation we need, we just need to keep going, keep doing it mechanically, keep grinding, and as you keep on, your energy will catch up with you. We should not expect our emotions to be the same every day; but as long as you know where you’re going, don’t stop. Don’t wait for the feeling to be right, just keep going and the feelings and energy will catch up with you.
One condition to this, however, is to know where you’re going!
